PTDF Scholarship Scheme 2024/2025 Details
The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), a Federal Government agency with a mission to cultivate indigenous human capacity in petroleum technology, is pleased to announce the commencement of applications for the Overseas MSc and PhD scholarships.
This prestigious scholarship is designed to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry by developing skilled professionals through specific programs at selected institutions.

PTDF Scholarship Scheme Requirements
To be eligible for the postgraduate PTDF Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
- Requirements for MSc Candidates:
- Minimum Second Class Upper (2.1) qualification in the first degree.
- Completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
- Computer literacy and possession of 5 O/level credits, including English and Mathematics.
- Submission of a statement of purpose (maximum 500 words) outlining the proposed study’s relevance to the industry and national development.
- Requirements for PhD Candidates:
- Completion of the mandatory NYSC.
- Computer literacy and possession of 5 O/level credits, including English and Mathematics.
- Minimum Second Class Lower (2.2) in the first degree and a good post-graduate degree.
- Submission of a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry.

PTDF Scholarship Benefits and Timeline

Required Documents
Applicants for the 2024/25 PTDF Scholarship should scan and attach the following documents to their online application forms:
- First Degree Certificate or Statement of Result
- NYSC discharge certificate
- WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO results and corresponding PINs
- Recent Passport Photograph
- Local Government Identification Letter
- Master’s Degree Certificate (PhD Applicants only)
- Evidence of membership in professional associations
Application Procedure
Important Notes:
- The scholarship is exclusive to the 2024/2025 academic session.
- Limited to PTDF-approved courses in partner institutions.
- Relevant to the oil and gas industry; irrelevant programs may lead to disqualification.
- Candidates with multiple applications will be disqualified.
- Previous PTDF-sponsored scholars are ineligible to reapply in the same category.
Application Deadline:
- The deadline for applications is Monday, March 18th, 2024, providing six weeks from the date of this publication.
- Applicants are advised to prepare their transcripts in anticipation of the interview round for successful candidates.
How To Apply
To submit your application for the PTDF Scholarship 2024/24, follow these steps;
Step 1:
- Visit URL to create application account and fill in your details.
- An email with instructions on how to login and set your password will be sent to the email address you entered.
Step 2:
- Login with your email as username and the password you created following the instructions sent to your email address.
Step 3:
- Click Verify NIN button before you start a new application.
- For those that are just verifying their NIN, fill the fields and agree the terms (charges may apply).
- If you have tried to verify your NIN and it was not successful do not try the second time as you will be charged twice.
- Click on the red button with text Click here for all failed NIN verification then enter you payment transaction reference and NIN to complete the verification.

Step 4:
- You will be required to fill all fields of biodata and upload all required documents.
- Please take note of all file formats and uploads, if the file uploaded does not meet the requirement you will experience error.
- Also, you will be required to choose your first second or third choice University and courses.
- Please note: If your first choice is a German University, you must choose Abuja as your choice for interview. You are also required to upload your statement of purpose (for MSc applicants)/Research Proposal (For PhD applicants).
